Purpose
The Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is dedicated to providing professional & compassionate care to all patients.

Scope of Care:
Physical/Speech Therapy Services are provided to patients of all ages in both inpatient and ambulatory settings at all acuity levels. In-patient services are provided to all patients in the facility as warranted or so ordered. In patient treatments are provided at the bedside and in the 3rd floor P.T. gym as needed. Ambulatory services are provided in the 3rd floor Physical Therapy gym area & Speech Therapy office.

Physical Therapy is a form of health care that prevents, identifies, corrects, and alleviates  acute or prolonged movement dysfunction of anatomic or physiologic origin.

Speech/Language Pathology is a form of health care that prevents, identifies, corrects and alleviates speech, language, cognitive, voice and/or swallowing disorders.

Physical/Speech Therapy encompasses areas of specialized competence and includes the development of new principles and applications to more effectively meet existing and emerging health needs.

Staffing Availability
The Physical Medicine & Rehab Division is comprised of Board Certified Physiatrists, Licensed Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants,  Speech/ Language Pathologists, front office support staff and residents rotate through this Division. The Division is staffed to provide adequate services.

Electromyography (EMG)
Electromyography is a diagnostic procedure to assess the health of muscles and the nerve cells that control them (motor neurons).

Nerve conduction study (NCS)
A nerve conduction study is a medical diagnostic test commonly used to evaluate the function, especially the ability of electrical conduction, of the motor and sensory nerves of the human body.

If you have leg pain or numbness, you may have these tests to find out how many your nerves /muscles are being affected. These tests check how well you’re spinal nerves and the nerves in your arms and legs are working.

Physical Therapy Hours:
Ambulatory Services: Monday -Friday 8:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m.
In-patient Services: Monday- Friday 8:00 a.m. through 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for both in and Outpatients.
Saturdays & Sundays for in patient priorities

Speech Therapy Hours :
Ambulatory Services: Mon Tues Wed Fri   8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m.
In-patient Services: Mon Tues Wed Fri   8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m.
Saturday or Sunday as patient load dictates
