Dr. Leaque Ahmed, MD, FACS is a fellowship-trained endocrine and bariatric surgeon. He has a variety of professional memberships, including with the American Board of Obesity Medicine, making him highly qualified in the sub-specialty of obesity medicine and all aspects of obesity management.
Dr. Ahmed is the Chairman of Surgery at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. His clinical and research interests include obesity and bariatric weight loss surgery, benign and malignant endocrine disease and surgery, gastroesophageal reflux disease, as well as surgical oncology. Prior to his arrival at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, Dr. Ahmed established a comprehensive bariatric surgery program at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem and performed over 4,000 operations with great outcomes. In addition, Dr. Ahmed has successfully trained various surgical residents.
Dr. Ahmed’s training began with medical school at Kilpauk Medical College in Chennai, India followed by surgical residency at Harlem Hospital Center and an endocrine surgery fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center
